Our philosophy

At Stour Wanderers, football means more than just playing. It’s a way to grow, make friends, and build confidence.

Putting girls’ football first

We exist to change the story for girls and women in sport. Here, girls football is just as important as anyone else’s. We create a space where girls feel valued, heard, and empowered to play.

Inclusion, respect, and care

Every player deserves respect – regardless of ability, background, or experience. We  promote a safe, welcoming environment where kindness and teamwork matter as much as skill. We encourage fair play, support and positivity – on and off the pitch.

Development in all areas

Yes, we train technique, tactics and fitness – but we also focus on character. Football teaches resilience, leadership, emotional strength and collaboration. We want players who grow not only as athletes, but as confident, capable young people.

Community & belonging

We are rooted in our local area. We want families, friends and the community to feel proud of the Club. We aim to build strong connections – among our players, between teams, and with local partners. When one of us does well, we all celebrate together.

A home for life

From their first kick to the teenage years and beyond, we hope Stour Wanderers feels like home for our players. We commit to giving local girls the opportunity to stay involved in football as they grow – playing, coaching, volunteering or supporting.
